Iran film ‘Lunch Time’ qualifies for Student Academy Awards

Iranian film ‘Lunch Time’ qualifies as a possible entry to the Student Academy Awards.

Iranian film ‘Lunch Time’ qualifies as a submission to the Student Academy Awards after US-based HollyShorts Filmfest selected the title.

After being admitted to several Oscar-qualifying festival, including the Palm Springs International ShortFest, the film will via at the competition section of the American event, making the short become eligible as an entry for the 44th edition of Student Academy Awards.

According to official website of the awards event, "Eligible students" among other requirements "can submit one film to the Student Academy Awards if that film...has been selected for screening in competition at three film festivals recognized by the SAAs over the last two years."

The 15-minute film is about a high school girl who has come to the hospital to identify the body of her mother. The people in charge at the hospital would not let her into the morgue because of her young age.

Among the cast members of ‘Lunch Time’ are Khorshid Cheraqipour, Roya Bakhtiari, Amir Taqdiri, Peyman Naemi, Siavash Cheraqipour, Bahram Omrani, Pouria Akhavan, Mohammad Haddadi, Alireza Qasemi, Mehdi Yeganeh, and Arash Qasemi.

HollyShorts Film Festival is an organization devoted to showcasing the best and brightest short films from around the globe, advancing the careers of filmmakers through screenings, networking events, and various panel and forums.

The event showcases the top short films produced 40- minutes or less.

The 13th edition of the HollyShorts is scheduled to be held on August 10-19, 2017 in California, US.
